Summer Mango Avocado Salsa

I love a ripe mango! The sweetness of mango combined with a kick of red onion balanced by creamy avocado make this salsa a must-have at your next gathering!

What makes this recipe special is the use of “sea vegetables,” which are  naturally occurring iodine-rich plants from the ocean. With the advent of more specialty salts into our diets, most of us are not using traditional iodized salts these days. This means many of us are a little under-supplemented with iodine. Iodine is important primarily to healthy thyroid function.

I use sea vegetables as an alternative to salt and other spices. The brand I use is Maine Coast Sea Seasonings – try Kelp or Dulse or another variety. Keep it next to your salt and pepper shakers!

Pair this dip with organic plantain or corn chips. It’s also delicious as a topping to brighten up salads or grilled seafood.
